Sunday Evening Mind Dump

Another great week @ Southbrook Church!

  • The highlight for many was the chance we had as a staff to love on
the volunteers of Southbrook Church! We call it Rave and last Friday evening
was our second one! It was even better than the first! But, as they say, a
picture is worth a thousand words, so here are a thousand pictures—just
    kidding—but here are a few…

  • Some of you may not know, but our LifeGroups’ pastor, Kevin
Conklin, just recently got hitched! His lovely bride, Karyn (now Mrs. Karyn
Conklin) and he joined the rest of the staff for a post wedding celebration at
the Singleton’s home! It was an Italian theme and a lot of fun. In addition to
gorging—we had a little fun playing the Newlywed game. All I can say is, I’m
glad we didn’t have time to get to the Singletons—those questions were brutal!
Here are a few pics from that…

  • We were in the third chapter of James for week three of our Moxie
series. This is the “tongue” chapter. Everything you ever wanted to know about
the most powerful weapon in the history of the word—the one that forms words.
The tongue doesn’t get much press these days. Most people don’t give a second
thought to the words they say—preferring to just jabber nonsense or filler in
order to make conversation. But our words make or break us. This weekend I
challenged all of us to lean on Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit in
order to gain control over our tongues—but never go it alone! James makes it
clear—on our own we have zero chance of controlling this beast.
