Sunday Evening Mind Dump

•    We continued our Rx series today with the message, CPR (Christian Perspective Reversal). It was a sermon on the beatitudes—quite possibly the most illogical, counter intuitive, upside down (at first glance) teaching Jesus ever gave. I mean, who would ever think the road to happiness would be found through being, ‘poor, hungry, crying, and having people hate you?! But that’s exactly what Dr. Luke says in chapter 6. Friends, that’s why we have to let scripture interpret scripture. Matthew 5 finds Jesus teaching a version of the same sermon some of the blessings are expanded in the following way: Blessed are the poor [in spirit]. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst [for righteousness].  Makes a huge difference doesn’t it? However, it’s still not the road to happiness most secular humanists would have us follow. So who’s right? Get the podcast here and decide for yourself.
•    Here are the four blessings the way I translated them for today:

1.    Truly Happy People Start Out Broken
2.    Truly Happy People Satisfy Spiritual Hunger With Spiritual Food.
3.    Truly Happy People Find That the Things That Break the Heart of God are the Same Things that Break their Heart.
4.    Truly Happy People are Far Sighted Rather Than Near Sighted.

•    I’m so pumped about Impact’s very first baptism this coming Sunday!! If you have ever received Jesus as Lord and Savior but never professed Him in baptism, then this is for you! Come celebrate all the folks ready to publicly identify with Jesus Christ through water baptism! It’ll be a marker moment for all of them!
•    Had our very first Impact 101 Connection Class tonight! It was a great group of folks ready to take their places in ministry as we see this brand new church make an impact for Jesus. If you call Impact Church home make sure you take this class. Remember, we’re called not just to believe, but also to belong!
