Sunday Evening Mind Dump!

  • What Do You Do When You Hit a Wall? Weeks one and two of Impact Church’s series, “When You Hit a Wall,” went great. It’s honestly one of my favorite church services in forever. My wife, Michelle felt the same.

This morning was week two of the series and twice as many people showed up to be a part of the launch of Impact Church! So far, just word of mouth seems to be the greatest driving force for bringing God’s people together to witness a mighty move of His Holy Spirit. We’re expecting great things to happen because we serve a great big God!

  • Going through the book of Nehemiah seems just right for this launch phase of a brand new church—it’s all about building something worthwhile even against all odds and in the face of everything the evil one can throw at you. All of which hardly matters in the scheme of things because, as we learned today,

God’s work done God’s way and in God’s time, will never lack God’s resources and support!

  • One of the many things I’ve learned in ministry over the years in start up churches and mega churches is that it’s a whole lot easier to turn a speed boat or a jet ski than an oil tanker. So, at Impact Church we are being careful to set the DNA at this very early stage.
  • My wife received surprise gifts from many of the women on the Impact launch team today. It was a wonderful blessing that came at—you guessed it—just the right time! Thanks to all of you who blessed my wife so much with your generosity today!
  • A lot of times when Christ Followers get into a pinch they go to God as a last resort—pray as only a last resort. And their words are a dead giveaway. Here’s one I hear a lot when I ask people what they are doing about their dilemma…

“Oh, I’m just kinda praying right now.”

Huh? You praying or kinda praying? You praying or not?! Because more often than not, “kinda praying” is code for not praying at all! Just saying.

  • Not much of a planner? Just know, that even those who think they don’t plan at all, really do. Know why? It’s because…

Failing to plan is planning to fail!

  • Wanna have a better, more powerful prayer life? Learn from Nehemiah. Nehemiah could confidently pray throughout the day b/c he had established an intimate relationship with God during times of extended prayer!
  • It’s not the length of your prayers that count but the strength of your prayers that matters!
  • Prayer and planning go together!
