Sunday Evening Mind Dump

Pastor Geoffrey said it best this weekend, “You all will never know how much it’s meant to us to see this church actually be the body of Christ!” In word and deed! I love this church!

  • Gen. 19 — toughest passage I’ve ever taught on! Peter calls Lot a ‘righteous’ man. I might have words with him when I get to heaven on that one! There’s nothing redeeming about Abraham’s nephew. Aren’t you glad we are actually redeemed by the blood of the Lamb rather than on the merit of our own works?! Lot wouldn’t have a prayer. Sadly, neither would I.

Oh stop grinning — neither would you!

  • Betting few will ever view the shows, “Modern Family” or “Glee” the same way ever again. Hopefully even fewer will ever view them again period!
  • Just caught the very end of the 2 year celebration @ our Monroe Campus — some long winded preacher held me up! Looked like it was a good one though!
  • Over 200 women gathered together Saturday for special speaker, Connie Witt. She was hilarious and really made an impact on the ladies in regards to mentoring one another…or so I heard!  🙂

BTW, how does one ever gauge whether or not an event like this was successful? Easy. They DO something. If they just go home with a warm fuzzy than I’d say we missed the mark. Our women?

1. Signed up to volunteer at the church offices

2. Started or joined several small groups

3. Signed up to help at the closet ministry

In other words, they put God’s Word into action—they’re being the Church!

This weekend I challenged our people not to fall asleep like the frog in the kettle. By the time they wake up it might just be too late!

I think they listened.

I’m blessed indeed to be your pastor!
