It’s a Small World

How awesome it was to discover that while I was in Haiti ministering with a small team—the youth at Southbrook Church were ministering to a group of 25 visiting Chinese students!

Even more exciting when I learned how it all went down…

Apparently these are students of very wealthy and important leaders in China. They go to a special school and are allowed privileges most will never have in China. Among these are the very best education and the ability to travel to other countries. But one thing China is always careful not to allow is the exposure of their young people to the gospel. That has to happen via invite from people (preferably youth) in whatever host country they are visiting. And it wasn’t happening in America up to last weekend.

That is until our own, Billy Almaguer heard about it! The Chinese leader apparently contacted many churches to see if they could experience a typical Sunday experience at a USA church—without a single response! Only Southbrook responded, changed plans on a dime, spent the day with all 25 teenagers joining our teens at the Whitewater center followed by a night of X-box on our giant screen and then the most important part…worship on Sunday at Southbrook Church!

The teens were blown away! Many of them were brought to tears by the worship experience and Pastor Greg’s message! Several wept about halfway through and said they never knew church could be like this! They loved the worship and God reached many of them!

Thank you Southbrook for being the church! Thank you for being available at the very moment Christ calls! You made a huge difference in the lives of 25 Chinese students this past weekend!
