Free Marketing — Part 2

Forgot all about this one, huh? I almost did too (just being honest) with Christmas right around the cornor and all. But I don’t want to leave that point unfinished. So, if you missed part one, click here to dig it out of the archives and get yourself up to speed (think I’ll click too so I can remember what I was talking about!).

Isn’t it funny how even churches clamor for ways to market their product? Hey, I’ve done it too–flyers in the mail, radio, etc. All in the name of making folks aware we’re their. But the best way to make our presence known is for the love of Christ to saturate the communities around us so much that even our enemies say, “I know who you are! Your one of those ‘God Chasers’ from Southbrook Church! You’re not going to clean up this neighborhood are you?! You’re not going ot ruin the strangle hold of oppression and hopelessness we’ve put on the people around her! Say it isn’t so! We’ve got a good thing (pun not intended) going here!”

That’s what the legion of demons basically said to Jesus when He came near. The gig was up and they knew it. You can’t continue dark things when the Light of the world comes near. So Jesus cast the demons out of the poor oppressed man living among the tombs and restored him to sanity. The formerly possessed man spent the rest of his days prasing God and the legion or so of demons got a one way ticket into a herd of pigs. But before they drove the herd over the cliff and into the sea they gave Jesus some unbelievable FREE MARKETING.

How so?

  1. They acknowledged His position (Son of the most high)
  2. They connected it with His name (Jesus)
  3. They submitted to His power and authority
  4. They showed Him to be stronger than them

And they didn’t want to do any of it. They had to. And it was free.

Can’t beat that!

Who are you telling about Jesus? Who are you bringing to “Foretold” — the Christmas series @ Southbrook? Better get started. One of the greatest days of harvest is right around the corner!
