Sunday Evening Mind Dump

This past weekend was amazing! We wrapped up our 4 week series on , “Impact!” and forever etched in our minds that we are called to…Mark the Body, Mark the Community and, Mark the World!

  • I’m definitely tired but anxious to find out what all we will be able to charge forward and do as a church based on the “Impact Offering” today. I can tell all you ‘anxious people’ out there that we are well over the first fruits goal we set of $100,000!
  • Don’t have the Monroe Count or online giving, as well as several folks who wanted to make it crystal clear they were going to contribute this week. Be praying about all of these!
  • Haven’t had laryngitus for 4 years but guess what? It picked this weekend to resurface!
  • God was good anyway! His power and strength was made perfect in our own weakness!
  • Praying diligently about the right Lifegroup’s pastor for Southbrook Church—as well as the other crucial hires I shared with this body over the last 4 weeks. Finally we can move forward and build the team—even in the midst of a bad economy!
  • God didn’t get the ‘bad economy’ memo.
  • So why does god allow such times? Many reasons…to activate volunteers and lay leaders (every member of the Body of Christ is supposed to be an active minister—not just the hired guns), to stretch our faith, to refocus our hope and trust toward Him and not our stuff…There are a whole host of lessons…still learning.
  • Love the new website! Check it out if you haven’t already! www.southbrookchurch.com
  • Love the fresh new logo as well! Change is good. Fresh is better than stale any day! I wouldn’t mind changing things up every year—but I’m a change addict. Don’t worry, the ‘change addict recovery people on staff keep me in check!
  • Can’t believe I called people, ‘Cave-dwellers!’ When I get going, I get in trouble!
  • Know how you sometimes get something in your head and it just won’t go away? Couldn’t get that Gieco commercial out of my head once I called people, ‘Cave-dwellers,’ you know, the one where it says, “so easy, even a cave man could do it?’ What is so hard about God’s challenge to us in Malachi 3:10? Nothing! Tithing is so easy that even a cave man could do it!
  • So I’ll say it again…If you are not living a victorious life in Christ while hoarding everything for yourself, you are robbing God! And you are no better off than the Israelites who were cowering in caves and hiding behind boulders from the Philistines! Start obeying God and see what happens! And start now, not next week!
  • In the Christian life, we need to “GO!” until we get a “NO!”

That’s it for now. I’m already late getting this out!
