Take Away #6

Sonrisa grande!  Or Big Smile!
Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.  ~Mother Teresa
During our visit to the first village, I was very unsure about communicating in Spanish.  My last Spanish class was in high school and honestly, I don’t remember much.  I fumbled for words until I remembered how to say big smile.”  I shouted out, “sonrisa grande!”  Then I snapped their picture, showed the kids their “sonrisa” on  my camera, and joined in as they giggled.
Pretty soon I was giving the kids high 5’s, low 5’s and knuckle punches… we all laughed as I moved towards the mothers and grandmothers who didn’t want to be left out!  They picked right up on my silly game ~ I can only imagine what they must have said about me as they gathered for their evening meal!

Take a  look at some beautiful Mayan sonrisas!
