Today I got to preach a message that I’ve thought about for a long time. And I was reminded so vividly of the extreme love and mercy Christ shows me all the time—completely undeserved.
- Mixed feelings about John 8:1–13. Some say it doesn’t belong in the Bible at all.
- Wasn’t in the very earliest manuscripts. However, godlier, smarter men than me thought it should be there as most of our Bibles have it (albeit some with an *).
- Personally, I believe it happened because it’s recorded more like an eyewitness account than a dramatic story. And it’s so in keeping with the character of Jesus.
- AND, it’s a perfect fulfillment of Isaiah 42:3 <— Look it up and you’ll see what I mean. Better yet, listen to the podcast this week and I’ll tell you!
- This week we travel to Mexico with Southbrook missions and teaming up with Samaritan’s feet to bring shows to nearly a thousand Myan villagers who have never had them! I am pumped about this trip on a million different levels.
- My family is going with me!!!! Whooo Hoooo!
- My in-laws are house sitting and caring for our pack of dogs (3 labs and a Norfolk Terrier)! Now that’s love!
- I’m so many ways I consider them missionaries as well. They have made so much more possible over the years because of their sacrifice and focus on putting God and others first.
- Reminded everyone today that we shouldn’t throw stones.
- Need to sign off now. Gotta get up at 4:30 am (which, after last week, feels pretty normal!) to get to the airport in time.
- Have a great week Brookies! And live for Jesus!
