Tour de France – The Comeback

Lot of people are cheering for Lance!

Seems no one can resist a comeback.

But this time, the odds are far more against him than in the past.

•    Riders have gotten better
•    Lance has gotten older
•    He’s been ‘outta the saddle’ for four years. That’s a lifetime in biker years.
•    People have figured out his strategy and, in a way, he’s out there against a whole host of Lance Armstrongs.

Nevertheless, if I were a betting man, I’d still say Lance can do it. And what’s scary is, I think he knows he can too. And that makes him a very, very, very dangerous opponent for all the other riders.

Yeah, yeah, I know—Lance has said that Contador is too strong.

Blah, Blah, Blah.

Lance is a freak of nature. He could probably win the thing at age 83.5! But enough about Lance.

God loves to watch His people make a comeback as well.

I have a special heart for 40 somethings these days.

Can you guess why?

I am one.

And I feel like the best is yet to come for me and my journey with the Lord. But I gotta tell you—I cringe every time I observe a Christ follower in the prime of their life acting like it’s time to hang up their spiritual cleats.

Time to let the next generation have their run at it, They say.

Ridiculous.

I want to see a fired up generation of young people storm the Hell with water pistols as well, but it doesn’t happen more effectively if they can run on the strewn out bodies of the spiritually retired strewn all over God’s path to glory. That just slows us and them down all the more.

Are you at halftime right now?

Go ahead, admit it. No one can see you.

Good, now tell me how you plan on ending this race called life—on the couch eating Pringles chips and watching everyone else in the game?

Or…

On the field, not only making the comeback of a lifetime, but even superseding for Jesus all that you ever did when you were wet behind the ears?

See you on the field.

Try to keep up.
