We began our new series, “Heroes†today. Moses was the first character and I think a lot of us struggle thinking he’s either Charlten Hesston from the Cecil B. DeMille movie, “The Ten Commandments,†or, the wirey, prank-pulling, eternally young Moses of, “Prince of Egypt†animated fame. But there’s one thing missing form each of those big screen portrayals of the ancient patriarch…
REALITY
Yesterday’s message about him wasn’t near as sexy as the movies, but it did give us a realistic and believable portrayal of the ordinary man who did extraordinary things.
And it gave us something more.
It gave each of us the understanding that we too can be used of God to accomplish his will in great and mighty ways. God is still looking for heroes. The problem is that most of us believe we are over qualified.
By the way, I have some heroes to thank while we are at it.
Thanks to the all the volunteers who helped put together the latest “Newcomer’s Lunch†yesterday. It was another huge success. See below.
We’ve been doing these every month now and, as you can see, a lot of new folks are coming to Southbrook these days. And these are only the folks who could make it to the event. Many more were unable to come.
Another hero/champion (actually many) are the folks who stepped up to provide school uniforms and fully supplied backpacks for the kids at Benten Heights Elementary School! We sold out of the backpacks! And we are well on our way with the uniforms.
You all ROCK!
P.S. One more way cool thing. I got the following message from Dan Rutty (our worship pastor) this afternoon about something pretty cool that 91.9 is doing called. “My Church Band Rocks!â€
Anyway, someone got one of the songs off the last ‘Return’ CD on there and it’s being voted into the number one slot! Isn’t that cool? Well, to assure it wins, why don’t you take a second to read this message from Dan and then head on over to the 91.9 website and vote?! And please don’t assume they don’t need your vote—somewhere between midnight and 6:00 am someone hit the vote button for one of the other bands over and over again. Sad but true, so please don’t forget to add yours.
You can vote as much as you want—once every 30 minutes or so. So vote and vote often!
Hey guys. I thought this contest was over months ago, but I just received this email from Peri. “Pour†made the top three for the “My church band Rocks†contest. I was wondering if you could get the word out for people to vote at the link below.

Voting goes for now until next Wednesday.
Thank you. Dan
