Confess or Acknowledge? Part 1

You might think this question is a bit of a no-brainer, and I must say…

It should be.

Even a casual reading of God’s Word makes it obvious that God does not find these two terms to be interchangeable.

But here’s the rub…Christians do!

Actually it’s worse than that. They don’t really find the terms ‘interchangeable’ as much as they find one of the terms to be completely ‘unnecessary.’

Care to guess which one?

Right, acknowledge—

Just kidding, it’s confess. But you knew that, right?

Seriously, gang, it’s like an entirely new spiritual disease has infiltrated the Christian ranks. It starts with denial and moves to defensiveness, and ends with spiritual disaster.

If you’re lucky, you catch it in the second phase, and instead of spiritual disaster you ‘acknowledge’ your sin (did he just say, SIN?) and only end up half dead—sort of like the zombies on that old horror flick, Night of the Living Dead.

And everyone’s doing it.

It’s all the rage!

That’s why so many Christians walk around looking as though they were baptized in prune juice. It’s really a shame. Because the fix is really pretty simple.

I didn’t say it was easy, but it is simple.

I’ll tell you tomorrow what I mean, but it’s almost midnight, and I’m tired.

I just thought I’d acknowledge that.

Until then.
