I don’t write near enough of these, but every now and then there are so many wonderful people wherever I look at Summit Church that I just have to say something! Now is one of those times.
Check out Christine and Susan Zelm! These two sisters have not been at Summit Church long, but that didn’t stop them from diving right in to help! Susan and Christine show up at the SC (Summit Church) offices a couple times a week to volunteer for anything that needs doing! They aren’t picky about their service. In short, they are, “All In for Jesus!” Whenever I see them it puts a smile on my face no matter what other storms may or may not be brewing. They get it!
And what is, “it?”
“It,” is the fact that the body of Christ is supposed to be run and cared for by…
Wait for it…
“The Body of Christ!”
…Not just the hired guns in ministry, not just the pastor—but everyone who calls Summit Church home! Some of you are saying, “Where do you get that, Pastor Rob?”
Well, several places. Let me show you just a few…
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
“So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
“Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.” Isaiah 58:10
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:13-14
“Now after this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them in pairs ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Luke 10:1-2
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, …” Ephesians 4:11-16
Take your pick! I’ve got more!
Ok, perhaps that was a bit of overkill, but hopefully you see the point—God’s Word makes it clear that EVERY member is a minister to some degree! So, using Nehemiah speak from our series through the book that wrapped up last night…
Find your place on the wall and serve the Lord with everything you’ve got and you will be amazed at all the Lord will do in and through you!
