It’s one thing to be “thankful for” things in your life but an entirely different thing all together to be thankful “To” someone for the good things in your life.
We see the “Thankful For” mentality all year long—especially at award shows like the Grammys or the Oscars.
– I’m thankful for the opportunity I’ve been given…
(Uh huh. Well, who gave you the “opportunity” you’re so thankful “for”? It wasn’t opportunity that gave you opportunity.
– I’m thankful “for” the roles that have come my way.
– I’m thankful for having such a great voice.
And then there’s the little people like you and I…
– I’m thankful “for” my house. (Again, your house doesn’t need to know this. Why even mention it if all you’re going to say is that your thankful “for” it?
– I’m thankful “for” good eyesight.
– I’m thankful “for” having a strong back.”
And then there’s Thankful “for’s” second cousin, “Thankful That” getting a piece of the praise action as well…
- I’m thankful “that” I have freedom of religion
- I’m thankful “that” I have a job.
- I’m thankful “that” I get to go to college.
Well that’s just dandy.
Question? Who sacrificed so that you could have freedom of religion? And who gave you the abilities you have in order to get a job? Also, if you are fortunate enough to go to college, who’s paying for it that you ought to thank?
I’m thankful “TO” God for He alone is good and every good thing I have in life is from above!
I’m thankful “To” the great volunteers of Impact Church who have sacrificed so much (and continue to do so) of their time treasure and talents to get this movement going. One day we will all look back in amazement at what God did through the faithfulness of the brothers and sisters giving their all for the mission of Impact!
And thanks to the leadership team! All the late nights and prayerful consideration that has gone into the governance of this church! It’s so much appreciated. I’ve never seen a group care so much! Thanks for your protection and support—especially in making sure that this church is protected in an environment where churches are being attacked like never before!
And thanks to the growing Impact staff! God is assembling an awesome team from all over the country! I’m thrilled we all love the vision and excited to be working alongside each of you to see it come to pass for God’s glory and honor.
And remember, the best is yet to come!
* Hey Impactors! Don’t forget that there is no 9:00 am service THIS Sunday! We will only be having the 11:00 am service. See you all then!
