The tricky part about inviting someone to church is that they are usually a little skeptical about how much you really care. They sometimes wonder things like,
- Will YOU be there the day you invited them to come?
- Will you act like you know them when they come up to you at church?
- If so, will it only be a couple words and then you’re off to “do your own thing?”
- Will you show them the ropes? After all, they’ve never been there—you have. They will need help getting around.
I’m sure there are other factors, but my point is that newcomers are often a little apprehensive of a very first visit. And that’s probably the biggest barrier to them coming to church in the first place. The good news is that 99.9% of the time, they are pleasantly surprised at how welcoming the people of Impact are, how informative the ministry leaders are, and how easy it is to figure things out.
But all that’s after the first visit. This post isn’t about the second visit, it’s all about the challenge of getting someone to that first visit.
So, is there a magic elixir for this? A silver bullet?
Yep.
And it’s scary easy! Yes, I meant to say that. Scary is even easier than ‘very.’
Ready?
Bring’em!
“What, Pastor Rob? That’s it?!…just ‘bring them?!’”
No, I said, “bring’em,” not “bring them!” It’s important to get the slang right!
Other than that, it’s that easy.
Bring them with you. Meet them for breakfast. Sit with them at church, Join them for lunch. Take your pick. The point is, you’re in this with them so invest a little. The results will be dramatically different. Your friends want to know you really care.
Let’s show them we do!
See you and your friends this weekend at Impact Church!
