If you Build it They Will Come!

It’s one of the most memorable lines from one of the most memorable films— “Field of Dreams.”

It’s also one of the cheesiest lines in movie history because, well, if you mow down ten acres of corn and spend tens of thousands to erect a professional sized baseball diamond so that Shirley McClain and Deepac Chopra can chant in dead baseball legends…

It still won’t happen.

The only thing you’ll get is a trip to the loony bin.

Now, I get it—really I do. It’s nice to dream. That’s why it was called “Field of Dreams” and not “Field of Reality.” But it’s also sad to waste time on dead ends like New Age and eastern mysticism–Especially when there are other ‘movements’ we actually can build our lives into with the absolute certainty that something big will happen.

I’m talking of course about a movement of God.

Look what God said about putting our efforts in His work verses the worlds…

James 1:12, “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”

Deuteronomy 7:13, “He will love you, bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock, in the land that he swore to your fathers to give you.

Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Psalm 90:17, “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us – yes, establish the work of our hands.”

Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
2 Corinthians 9:8, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Ephesians 3:20, “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us”

2 Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him.”

Psalm 127:1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”

I could go on and on and on. The point is, God loves to bless those who live all out for Him!
So field of dreams had the right idea—just in the wrong order. It should be,

“If He builds it, They will come!”

At Impact Church we want to see God move in great and mighty ways. We want to see the lost find hope in Christ. We want to see God’s kingdom expended rather than expanding our own. And we want to watch the gates of Hell crumble before us like they’re made of toothpicks!

And how do we know any of this will happen?

Because God wanted it before we ever even thought of it!

Wanna join us right now in this movement of God?

Then partner with us in bringing in the lost and dechurched—the disenfranchised and disillusioned with plastic religion. Pray for them and invite them to Impact Church on August 25th.

It’s more than the first official day of a brand new church.

It’s the start of a movement of God for God!
