Sunday Evening Mind Dump

  • What an awesome day of worship @ Southbrook today! Pastor Rene Joseph really brought it! Straight from the Word (Mark 2 to be exact) with passion unlike any other! If you haven’t spent a week in Haiti with this guy you really should pray about making a short term mission trip to Haiti and seeing how Southbrook Church is partnering with Pastor Rene and Loving Hands Ministry to feed the hungry, house the homeless (including a hundred orphaned from the earthquake) and cloth those who cannot even afford one decent set of clothes. If you missed it, look for the video message on iTunes (from the longer 9:00 am service because in this case, longer definitely was better!). I’ll try to post a link directly to it as soon as it’s ready.
  • After the 11:00 am service (which was packed BTW) my family got to spend a long lunch with Pastor Rene and together we dreamed about how we can make such an impact in Haiti as to actually mark the future for Jesus! Suffice it to say, the best days for Southbrook and Loving Hands are still ahead of us!
  • Sometimes my very favorite weekends are the ones where I can sit with everyone else and just be one voice in the masses lifting up the name of Jesus! Today worship seemed to be extra special and I wasn’t the only one to notice. At the restaurant, Pastor Rene asked us what was going on @ Southbrook. I wasn’t sure what he meant, so I asked him what he was referring too. He said, “when I was here a year ago the Spirit in the place was beautiful and the worship great but today was something I can’t even describe! Pastor Rob, the Lord is getting ready to do a mighty work at Southbrook Church. Are you ready for something extraordinary?” I choked up a bit at that point but told him I completely agreed! Jesus was and is in the house each and every time the people of Southbrook gather to lift high His name! And lately the entire body seems more unified and fired up than perhaps ever in our entire history! It’s almost palatable! He agreed and reiterated how thrilled he was to be a small part of it!

How about the rest of you? Do you sense the Lord moving @ Southbrook Church in a mighty way? If so, get ready to dive in with us because we will need all hands on deck this year and leading into 2013! And much of it begins THIS COMING WEEKEND as we all invite our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family to Southbrook Church for “Friend’s Day!” Come on gang, let’s fill His house to overflowing! Each one bring one!

  • This coming week is week 3 of the Impact series and we will be seeing what the Word of God has to say about the church’s mission to those in our own community. Who better to hear what we plan to do than the very community we’re here to reach?! So remember to make the ask in the next couple days and commit to doing whatever it takes to get your folks there. Once there I promise—God will do the rest!
