To the Least of these
Ministering to people in such pain—who have experienced such heartbreaking loss brings new meaning to “to the least of these…”
The passage I am referring to is Matthew 25:29-41
“ 31(D) “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him,(E) then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32Before him(F) will be gathered(G) all the nations, and(H) he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates(I) the sheep from the goats. 33And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34Then(J) the King will say to(K) those on his right, ‘Come, you(L) who are blessed by my Father,(M) inherit(N) the kingdom(O) prepared for you(P) from the foundation of the world. 35For(Q) I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you(R) gave me drink,(S) I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36(T) I was naked and you clothed me,(U) I was sick and you(V) visited me,(W) I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And(X) the King will answer them,(Y) ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these(Z) my brothers,[a] you did it to me.’
41“Then he will say to those on his left,(AA) ‘Depart from me, you(AB) cursed, into(AC) the eternal fire prepared for(AD) the devil and his angels.”
So many Christians don’t end up doing much for the Kingdom of God because they live in a sort of spiritual paralyses thinking they can’t make a mark—any real impact because they are not Billy Graham or Mother Teresa. But they forget—Billy Graham and Mother Teresa started out very small! They started out simply ministering to the least of these.
Who can’t do at least that?!
Being down here in Haiti—arguably the most devastated place on earth right now—brings new meaning to this phrase. If any people feel forgotten and of little worth, it is the Haitians. But they are of GREAT worth to our God and He wants to use us to minister to them in their time of need!
And there is MUCH need!
So, Southbrook…are you with me?!
My dream (in the very, very near future) is to bring a team of between 30-40 down here to help knock out some of the immediate needs that we alone are positioned to do and do well. We need construction workers, doctors, strong backs, nurses, teachers and anyone else with a heart to serve!
Can’t wait to share the vision for Haiti the Lord is downloading on my soul!
In a few days I’ll download it on you! If you absolutely, positively can’t wait, I’ll give you a teaser. Check out this video for more on the ministry of Rene Joseph.
