Sunday Evening Mind Dump

This may have been one of my favorite weekends ever @ Southbrook Church! This weekend a friend for over 30 years and a tremendous teacher of the Word of God–Jimmy DeYoung–unpacked prophecy after prophecy about our blessed Lord Jesus! He showed us that there were over 300 things FORETOLD regarding the first coming of Jesus Christ. And I could see the people of Southbrook grow before my very eyes!

  • Best of all, 25 people took the facts they learned about Jesus and allowed the Holy Spirit to transfer these truths to their hearts as they bent the knee to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!
  • Nearly 150 have given their lives to Jesus through the ministry of Southbrook Church this Christmas season! Friends, that’s why He came! That’s the best gift we could ever give to Him!
  • About 230 people showed up for the Q&A time tonight with Dr. Jimmy DeYoung and they were not disappointed. So inspired were we all that the dream of taking nearly 100 people to Israel in the Fall was raised. Who knows? Over the next several weeks we’ll be praying about it as a leadership team and we’ll let you know asap. Suffice it to say, when over 150 of you raised your hands indicating that you would be very interested in going–it tipped the scales toward the wonderful possibility of a trip September 2011. If anyone else would be interested in being a part, let me know by leaving a comment here and we will add you to the list!
  • Remember that the final message in our Christmas series, “Foretold” will be on Christmas Eve this year and I believe the lord is going to move in a ginormous way! But it all depends on each of us inviting friends and family to one of the five services we’ll be having–Thursday 12/23 @ the Weddington campus, Friday 12/24 @ Weddington 4:00, 6:00 and 8:00, and 6:00 pm at our Monroe Campus.
  • Anyone notice that Dr. DeYoung wasn’t too shy about telling it like it is?! Wow! I bet my email lights up this week LOL!
  • Was thanking God this week for the peace that comes from dumping Facebook and other time wasters. Seriously, after a year or so of seeing what a black hole of not only waste (as far as time goes) but also gossip and hurt–I’ve been without it and haven’t missed it a bit! I feel like I came out of the Matrix! How bout some of you? Is Facebook an edifying tool for you or the opposite? Red pill or blue? Which will it be?
  • Should have seen Matt Hoag’s face at the staff Christmas party when we wheeled out the brand new Gary Fisher Mountain bike we got him! Priceless! You do a great job, Matt! You all do, SC Staff! Can’t wait for 2011!
  • Thank you, Jesus for the spirit of unity and the incredible maturity we are seeing among your people at Southbrook. God, you are good!

All and all, a great week! Can’t wait to see you all on Christmas Eve!
