Sunday Evening Mind Dump

Got the weekend off (sort of) and a great opportunity to see how it really is ‘not all about the pastor.’ That would be a difficult pill to swallow for some ministers these days, but I love it when I see how great the team does in my absence. It’s healthy to be reminded that serving the Lord is a privilege and none of us are irreplaceable. Another fringe benefit to such experiences is that it re-reminds me to keep pointing to Jesus in all I do!

  • Another huge Newcomer’s Lunch today. More people than ever are checking out Southbrook Church and here are some of the reasons they gave: 1. We preach the uncompromising truth. 2. We are bold in our presentation. 3. The people are warm and friendly all the time. 4. Real 5. All about Jesus! That last one is my favorite!
  • This coming weekend begins a long awaited marriage series called, “Heartbreak Warfare.” This will be different than any other marriage and relationship series we’ve done–stripped down, raw. Marriages in this country are in too much trouble to waste time beating around the bush or being politically correct. So, we are going to “Go There.” Because of this, we strongly encourage parents of kids 12 and under to take advantage of our excellent children’s church and student ministries–mainly for week 2 of the series as not everything will be appropriate for all ages.
  • Looking forward to our next Monday Morning Man Up! That will be this in one week, November first. How to know if this is for you…are you a man? If the answer is ‘yes,’ you should be there.
  • People like to ding churches for poor communication but I was reminded again this weekend that sometimes, no matter how many times and how many ways you communicate what’s coming some people still react like you never mentioned it. Frustrating! Now I know how they came up with the name for that old sitcom, “Just Shoot Me!”
  • Never seen the staff gel like they are now @ Southbrook Church! I’m looking forward to great and mighty things from the Lord in the years ahead and that’s a good thing because our best days are still before us!

Keep up the 100 Days, friends! And keep sharing your stories with us! We love them!
