Wow! Finally a weekend where I wasn’t throwing up, feverish, congested or otherwise under the weather! It felt like my first real Sunday back.. And just in the nick of time too because it’s the last weekend where all we have Sunday only services. That’s right, this coming weekend marks the return of the Saturday evening services @ Southbrook Church! Pretty pumped about that! I’ve already talked to several families who used to come all the time on Saturdays and have struggles to make it on Sundays due to work schedules and so forth. They and the children’s workers seem to be the most pumped…On, and all our former Catholics who grew up going to church on Saturdays!
Diary of a Wimpy Christian (DOWC) begins this Saturday evening! You do not want to miss a single one of these messages–seriously! I believe God is going to move mountains for some people. And for those who have never experienced the dynamic, abundant life that Jesus says all Christ followers should be living…get ready to experience it!
We wrote the names of friends, family, co-workers, classmates and neighbors on the walls of our church this week. Some people were kinda freaked out when they heard we were doing this, but once they saw the reason and how God moved, I think we all agree that there’s no better way to decorate a church than with the names of these we care about and are praying for! And each time we hear of one those folks bending the knee to Christ for salvation, their name will be crossed off indicating they have passed from death unto life! Love seeing literally hundreds and hundreds of names! I will love much more to see hundreds and hundreds of lines drawn through those same names! Be praying for the harvest!
Gonna try some really cool animation stuff with our DOWC series–definitely out of the box for a church. Should be pretty cool!
Who are you planning to bring with you this weekend for the opening of the series? Remember, if they can’t come Sunday–just bring them on Saturday evening @ 6:00!
Also remember that we are called to do a lot more than simply write people’s names on a wall. We are called to share the good news of the gospel message with them! What easier way to do this than to bring them to Southbrook Church when you know the message will be going forth?! Guarantee their presence by inviting them to lunch after the services–go the extra mile. Aren’t they worth it?
Some more events to remember…MEN, remember the Father/daughter/son breakfast and gathering on Monday morning September the 13th! I have a challenge for you that will turn you family into a lean, mean, Jesus machine!
For every 1st time visitor that attends @southbrook August 21&22, 1 pair of shoes will be donated to Samaritan’s Feet. Bring your friends! This is a no-brainer!
If you know of families in need, the next Closet Shopping Day will be Sept. 11th out at our Monroe Campus
September 24 Night of Worship at Weddington
September 26 Child Dedication
September 26 Newcomer Lunch
That’s all I can think of right now…cya this weekend!
