What a whirlwind the last two weeks have been! Glad to do it! Glad to rest now!
- Last week I had to prepare three different messages—the Midweek message, a special “One Prayer” message (that we filmed on a Saturday evening) and the Sunday morning “Divine” series. What in the world was I thinking??!!
- This week the brain misfires continued as I forgot that I would be away on the Gettysburg Father/Son retreat Thursday-Saturday. That left me only 3 days to prepare two messages—the Midweek again and the next message in our “Divine” series. Will I ever learn? Today I took a nap and I’m pretty sure I slept the sleep of the dead! If stage 4 sleep is REM (Rapid Eye Movement — deep sleep) then I figure I was somewhere between stage 25 and 26!
- Speaking of “Gettysburg,” I really enjoyed going with so many Southbrook guys and their sons! We have some really great men and future men at SCC! Satan should be scared—very, very scared!
- Have I ever mentioned how much I love the Gospel of John? Well let me say it again, “I LOVE this book of the Bible!”
- Already planning out the “Back to School” series for the Fall—and school’s not even out yet! I really think you’re gonna love it! Ok, ok, I’ll throw you a bone. Isn’t it frustrating to see the moniker of ‘Christianity” attached to so many anemic things? If God is really behind something, shouldn’t it be powerful and undeniable? Then what gives? Tell your friends about our upcoming series, “Diary of a Wimpy Christian.” Trust me, it will be a ‘can’t miss’ series!
- This was my second trip to Gettysburg with my son, Nathan. Only this time we had the added pleasure of brining along 3 of the Hinkle brothers! What an honor it was to see these fine young “future men” soak up all the powerful leadership lessons from men who sacrificed their very lives to make this a better country! Men, if you were unable to make it this time there is still room on the June trip but you better hurry. Go to leadwithcharacter.com and sign up today to reserve your spot!
- After church my family and I took a long walk through the woods with 2 of our 3 Labrador Retrievers. Isn’t it funny how the simplest things are often the best?
- We are zeroing in on some ‘INCREDIBLE’ staff hires in accordance with the vision laid out during our “IMPACT” series. Be praying for wisdom as we make these final decisions in expanding the team at Southbrook!
- Okay, even though I slept the sleep of the dead I’m tired again! Not caught all the way up I guess. So that wraps up this mind dump. See ya tomorrow!
