It’s been a few days since I posted part one of this series so you might want to refresh your memory by clicking here.
That said, let’s move on…
What’s more powerful, Truth or Emotion? My conclusion?
Yes.
They’re both powerful but the third choice is the most powerful and that would be…
BOTH.
Yes, both—especially if you’re sharing God’s truth! Because God’s truth is life changing, has eternal ramifications and alone can bring contentment in life. So the real question for believers is, ‘Why aren’t you passionate, emotional, excited or even motivated by God’s truth?’ It’s not just the “Good News,” it’s the Best News! Better than winning the $300,000,000 powerball! Better than finding the man or woman of your dreams. Better than climbing to the top of the corporate ladder…Better than anything else, period!
So why do we show so much emotion for all those things and so little for God?
Well, we’re too comfortable—too casual about Almighty God. And the ramifications could be catastrophic. Would you be interested in the good news if it were robotically presented to you via some drone like, unenthusiastically, unemotional (probably, ‘unconvinced’) “Christian?”
I didn’t think so.
Oh, God will get His message out. His truth will prevail but, if you’re one of the ‘walking dead’ it won’t be through you. you’ll be shelved having outlived your expiration date for Christ.
So, bottom-line, are you fired up about Jesus or not?
If not, you may not know Him—probably don’t know Him and somebody needs to shoot straight with you. That might offend, but, if it turns you around and toward the God who loves you…well, you’ll have all eternity to get over it.
One final thing on emotion and truth,
Check out 2 Corinthians 10:3 (The Message), The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair. But we don’t live or fight our battles that way—never have and never will. The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.
So, emotion and passion that springs forth from a love and appreciation for all Christ has done for you—GOOD. Emotion and passion that seeps out of a heart of bitterness, jealousy, anger or envy—BAD and needs to be change until you are“fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.”
Do you know the truth?
Has the truth set you free?
Then for heaven’s sake, get emotional about it! Get fired up!
And tell others!
But before you do, make sure it shows. Some people claim to be fired up but apparently never notified their face.
Smile people!
