What Does God Want From Me?

Ever ask this question?

My wife, Michelle, was sitting in her car early yesterday morning trying to catch some time with the Lord. She was actually reading her Bible, praying and singing praises to God when someone banged on her window.

She had been enjoying her time with the Lord and specifically asking Him what He wanted her to do in this season—not really a ‘what is your will for my life?’ kinda time, but you get the idea. During the Christmas season it just seems like there are so many distractions and catching a quiet moment with God becomes an even harder challenge then at other times of the year.

Again, the banging on the window.

She looked closely at the individual and noticed that it was a woman carrying a handful of pamphlets—’watchtower magazines’—It was a Jehovah’s Witness—bound and determined to break up the conversation with the living God.

Michelle rolled down her window.

No thank you,’ she said.

No, you don’t understand,” The JW insisted. “People today need to know what God wants from them!”

I was actually spending time with God just now,” Michelle hinted.

The JW continued as though Michelle was mute…”People today have so many distractions! They can’t get to God through all the noise! People need to know what God requires of them!”

Then it hit her.

”Yes, they do, and I know exactly what the Lord requires,” Michelle said with joy! “Do you?”

That seemed to fluster the JW and she quickly muttered something about needing to move on.

What had the Lord whispered to my wife? Interested in knowing what the Lord requires of you?

Micah 6:8,

7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams,
with ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8 He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

Who knew it was that easy?
