Today was a very special day at SCC! I didn’t plan on ending the service with a time of prayer for those hurting but God did. And it was great to see people step forward and trust that the Lord could bring change into their lives! For some it happened immediately and emotions ran the gambit from brokenness to pure joy! For others it’s the beginning of a longer journey but today was the most important first step. And it all started with a question…
“Do you wanna be healed?”
- Had our staff Christmas party this weekend and it was great!
- The most hilarious gift ever was at my expense (a cheesy fake GQ cover, kinda thingy) but people couldn’t stop laughing (me included). Ad I have a horrible feeling that picture will haunt me for the rest of my life!
- Everyone denied being behind the little stunt—although Jen Murray’s denial was easily the least believable.
- She should watch her back!
- Learned through the story of the crippled man at the Pool at Bethesda, that not everyone really wants healing!
- Go figure.
- Had to ask several times this week whether or not I’m really ready to endure whatever it takes to bring about God’s best in my life—a question we all should ask—often.
- Was reminded this weekend about what it really means (again) to descend into greatness. Jesus lead the way in this the night He washed His disciple’s feet.
- Can’t tell you how many times God brought to mind the importance of keeping our eyes on Him rather than man.
- On Him rather than circumstances.
- Rather than Jobs
- Stuff
- Pain
- Thrills
- Or anyone or anything else…ever.
- Scriptural truths that shouldn’t catch me off guard but still do, I Peter 4:12, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.”
- And, I John 3:13, “Do not be surprised, my brothers, if the world hates you.”
- Why do we think we will be excempt from things? Do we get a free pass even Jesus didn’t get?
- No
- Even still, I want that pass!!!
- Got to spend some precious time with some of the best volunteers ever (actually, Southbrook has all the best volunteers, but I’m referring to a couple of them I saw in action as they served, served, served—always with a smile) and see their hearts like never before!
- Our family is getting so fired up about our missions trip to Mexico in February! We know full well the joy that awaits us as we serve others in His name!
- Guess what, Brookies? You all rock!!! It’s a privilege to be your pastor. You deserve better, but I will keep striving my best to lead you to the throne of Christ.
- Gotta go. Family and I are watching ‘Frosty the Snowman.’ I heard it’s a true story!
