“Monday” Evening Mind Dump

Yeah, yeah, I know—this is supposed to be the “Sunday” evening mind dump…

Sue me.

  • I didn’t preach yesterday but was at church, so I had the rare opportunity to sit back and watch things unfold from the perspective of a congregant.
  • Different. Very different.
  • When I’m up front, I feel like I can gauge the mood sooooo much better than when I’m sitting with everyone else. When sitting with everyone else, I’m reminded that each and every point made gets each and every person off on each and every unique angle possible.
  • No, I’m not sure what I just said—that’s why this is a mind dump.
  • Sad day yesterday. We will miss Paul.
  • Hearing someone else speak at Southbrook is always a treat for me. It’s like going to the very best church I know in the very best way—as a fellow worshiper in the crowd.
  • Loved talking with folks as I wandered around.
  • Are you a whiner or a shiner?
  • Are you thankful to or merely thankful for?
  • A lot of people are really hurting this year due to the economic meltdown our country is going through.
  • God is still on the throne!
  • One of my VERY favorite (and most gifted) preachers of all time is Matt Chandler of the “Village Church” in Texas. Right now he is facing some very uncertain times with a brain scan indicating there may be a mass on the frontal lobe. PLEASE stop what you are doing right now and lift him up in prayer!
  • I don’t even know him personally (Matt Chandler) but I literally wept like someone in my immediate family were going through it. Trust me on this one—the spiritual warfare on pastors is (at times) nearly unbearable. Often I feel like my life resembles the spiritual struggles found in the book, “This Present Darkness” than it does that of a typical pastor.
  • Spiritual warfare is REAL! If you don’t think so—welcome to a long, unhappy life of being lead around like a puppet on a string. The evil one loves people like you most of all! You’re easy.
  • Perry Noble wrote a post that also talks about a lot of what I am thinking (funny how often he does that  ). You should read it here.
  • Want to know what your pastor wants most for Christmas? Read the above post from Perry Noble again!

Hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving.

Thanks “TO” God for all we have!
