Several years ago while my family and I spent Thanksgiving with the victims of Hurricane Katrina we all learned the difference between being thankful “TO” and thankful “FOR.” And believe you me, there is a HUGE difference.
People who are Thankful “For” mention things like…
- I’m thankful for my iphone
- I’m thankful for my talent
- I’m thankful for my stuff
- I’m thankful life’s so comfortable
People who are Thankful “To” mention things like…
- I’m thankful to God for my salvation
- I’m thankful to Jesus for giving His life for me!
- I’m thankful to the volunteers and servant-hearted people of Southbrook Church who helped make Thanksgiving happen for so many!
Are you thankful “To” or mearly thankful “For?”
This year I am thankful to God for filling the hearts of His people at Southbrook with a spirit of generosity and love for those going through hard times. Yesterday our great youth and outreach missions folks gave out more than 200 turkeys (as well as all the trimmings) to our friends and community of Benton Heights in Monroe! Here are a few pictures as they got ready for the BIG DAY!
