By now of course, the cat’s out of the bag so I might as well make sure this weekend finds all the Brookies as prepared as possible to actually BE the Church!
Therefore, remember to come to your Southbrook campus this weekend dressed to serve! I would suggest jeans and a tee shirt. We will all gather for some rockin worship briefly and then everyone will be given the opportunity to hit one of seven different stations detailing what’s taking place at locations throughout the Charlotte, Monroe and Union County areas—from the North Davidson (No Da) district in uptown Charlotte to our own Clothes Closet at the Monroe campus and everywhere in between.
Why are we doing this?
Several reasons…First, to let the world know that Jesus commanded us to be His hands and feet, not just sing songs and learn Bible verses. To, “study to show ourselves approved,” is huge unless we’re doing absolutely nothing with that knowledge. To “sing praises to the Lord,” is uplifting and inspiring. It also brings pleasure to the Lord, unless, that last note we sing carries us back to the warmth and safety of our own homes each week instead of taking it to the streets and, as James 1:27 says,
Anyone who sets himself up as “religious” by talking a good game is self-deceived. This kind of religion is hot air and only hot air. Real religion, the kind that passes muster before God the Father, is this: Reach out to the homeless and loveless in their plight, and guard against corruption from the godless world. (The Message)
The second reason we are doing this is because we believe that every member is a minister—not just the hired guns. And what’s more effective for reaching this world? Releasing several thousand ministers into the community to serve or releasing about five?
-Jeopardy theme music playing here-
Times up! Several thousand trumps five every time!
So, come join us at Southbrook Church this weekend as we take the love of Christ to the streets—literally, and…
Be the Church!
* Night of Worship and communion is tonight! I peaked in and listened to our new worship pastor and his wife, Mia as they prepared for this special time and let’s just say…YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS IT! They are truly anointed! So, if you haven’t been to a N.O.W. in a while or especially if you have not participated in the Lord’s supper in ages, be there tonight at our Weddington campus!
See you there!
