Live Well — Part 2 — “Rest Well”

Before I get started with “Live Well,” I want to remind all the Brookies out there to keep in fervent prayer for those being invited to “United!” This thing is going to be HUGE (especially as far as the ‘harvest’ is concerned). Remember to pray for that person written on your United bracelet and to do everything you can to get your friends and family, co-workers and neighbors to the August 30th kick-off.
That said, the first area of “Living Well” I want to talk about is ‘resting well.’
What do you think of when you hear the word, “rest?”

  • Vacationing at the beach?
  • Skiing in the mountains?
  • Time away with the fam.?
  • Swinging to and fro in the hammock—Corona style?
  • A nap?

What?

Do you even know how to rest?
According to God?
Most American Christians play so hard on their vacations that they end up needing a vacation from their vacation.
It’s a vicious cycle. And are there repercussions?
Sure, if rest is supposed to accomplish something and you’re not doing it right—nothing is accomplished. Pretty easy logic, right?
So, what is rest supposed to accomplish first and foremost?
It is supposed to refocus you on God. That’s why the ‘day of rest’ is also referred to as the Lord’s day. If the day of rest and worshiping Jesus have nothing in common than you’re probably not ‘resting well.’ Your weekends were made for Michelob.
They’re supposed to be for God.
Just a thought.
