Continuing our leadership by generalship—let’s stick with Stonewall Jackson.
Bar none, my favorite line from this guy came when he was calmly strolling the front-lines while enemy fire was pounding them from all directions.
Apparently, one of his subordinates was coming apart at the seams and shouted out to him,
“How can you so calmly go about your day as though nothing is different. We could die at any moment!”
“When you know beyond doubt that the time of your death rests in the hands of a loving and sovereign God you will feel just as comfortable and at peace whether in battle or in bed.”
As we approach the famous “Hall of Faith” chapter in Hebrews (Chapter 11—one of my favorite chapters of the entire Bible) after this weekend—what better way to prepare ourselves than to know that all the great men and women of faith are not all from days long gone by.
You can be a Daniel or a Ruth!
- an Esther or a David!
- a Paul or a Priscilla!
- a Deborah or a Moses!
- a Billy Graham or a Mother Teresa!
- a Keith Green or a Aimee Semple McPherson
I’m sure you get the idea. God isn’t finished adding to the Hall of Faith.
I for one intend to be at least a footnote with His leading and guidance!
See you at the finish line!
* Remember, we are taking this trip next year and hope to make it a Southbrook exclusive! That means 45 total fathers, sons or male adults just wanting to make the trip for themselves. So far it looks like we have 14! That’s a great start considering this thing is a year away! Remember to go here to add you name(s) to the list. Let’s make this a great one!
** This just in!! We now have 18!! Better not wait too long to tell me about your interest. I am going to have Steve (the trip leader) let me know whn we can begin giving deposits that secure our spot. I will let you know as soon as I know!
