Ok, so it is impossible to please everyone, yet nearly everyone still insists on having their needs met in a mathematically impossible way. By one pastor!
What’s the answer?!
Watch what Jesus does in the following passage and the answer will become clear.
Right in the midst of healing and great teaching and drawing huge crowds, we read this,
35Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. 36Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
38Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.” Mark 1:35–38
You see, even Jesus had to create some personal time in His life, in His schedule so He could meet and talk alone with His Father. Even Jesus had to do that so we know we are going to have to do that. I like the way Kerry Shook put this in his book, “One Month to Live.”
“…the disciples came running up and said, “Jesus, where are You? Everyone is looking for You.” What they’re saying here is, Jesus, You are disappointing people. They’re disappointed. You need to hurry and go meet their needs. There are some women and children and sick people and they are tired and they’ve walked a long way. You are disappointing them. They’re expecting You. But Jesus knew what was most important and He knew that He had to make the decision to leave and separate Himself from the crowd and to spend time alone with His Father. That’s the secret of maintaining your passion in a crowded world. The most important one for us to spend time with isn’t demanding, He waits patiently for us.”
But the tyranny of the urgent may keep you from this most important appointment.
The drudgery of disappointment will set you on the wrong path. The one that leads directly away from God.
Don’t take it.
